In an attempt to remain supportive of families in Wisconsin, we at Extension are working together to offer a virtual education opportunity.
The Parent Connect is a free, weekly opportunity for parents and caregivers to talk with each other. As we connect, we find resources and gain skills that can make our families happier. Each Parent Connect is hosted by an Extension Educator and lasts one hour. Participants can join via phone or video-chat. Sessions are offered each Thursday evenings in October from 7-8pm. More information is available here: https://go.wisc.edu/s36p55 Important! Please register prior to The Parent Connect to receive connection link & phone number: https://go.wisc.edu/r15h82 Test Optional:
All three of our campuses will be test optional for Fall 2020-21 and Fall 2021-22 academic year applicants. The Board of Regents recently approved a temporary suspension of the requirement that applicants submit an ACT or SAT score. Applicants will be able to decide if they want a test score considered in their admission review and decision. ACT Superscoring & “What’s considered official?” If students choose to submit an ACT, they will be allowed to submit an ACT superscore. By submitting a final composite score that is made up of their best individual section scores across all ACT tests taken, prospects will have the opportunity to put their best foot forward during the application process. If the student did not initially send their scores UW-Platteville (regardless of which campus specifically they are applying to), we will accept their official score report from counselors. In order for it to be official, we do need to have a copy of the actual score report - we see many different kinds of “typed on” scores on high school transcripts, these are considered unofficial. Permanent Decreased Application Fee: As of April 13th, the application fee has been permanently reduced to $25 for all undergraduate applicants! Please note if your students have some sort of financial difficulty and cannot pay that application fee, there is an application fee waiver on the application. . No Cost to Apply Period: Starting today and running through October 31st, students will not be charged an application fee to any of our campuses. The UW- Platteville Foundation will be covering this fee through the end of next month. Admission Requirements: As your seniors begin their senior year, some may be curious of our admission requirements. As always, we take a holistic approach with our review process. This means that we look at a what a student brings to the table academically and non-academically (extra curriculars, leadership positions, awards/honors etc). Below are our academic requirements. Platteville:
We are happy to offer virtually and in person visits for all three of our campuses. Sign ups for all of our visits can be found at uwplatt.edu/visit. Please note that we have limited capacity for our in-person visits given COVID 19, so those are filling up quickly. When they are full, we will not be able to accommodate for anyone extra. Travel will be unavailable this semester for us here at Platteville. However, I would still love to connect with you and your students virtually. If you have dates/times in mind for a virtual visit, please let me know and we can get something on the calendar. Please keep in mind that I can do a normal high school visit virtually, application FAQ, FAFSA FAQ, Essay FAQ and UW Platteville FAQ presentations. If there are any college related presentations that you had in mind, I would be more than happy to work with you and create something. Website: I would also encourage you to explore our website (uwplatt.edu). There you can find a plethora of information about all three of our campuses. Anything from majors/minors, four/two year plans, cost, financial aid and campus activities. Be safe and be well!
